CULTURE IN AN ATTEMPT OF THE (NON) CONTRADICTION. A TRIALECTIC NANOGRAPHY OF THE HUMAN CONDITION

Victor UNTILĂ    << Back to contents

Abstract: Defining the culture as a human condition, the (post) modern philosophy imposes the idea that man produces “different cultural worlds”. As an inherent expression of the spiritual imbued with the political and the social elements, the cultural portrays the epigenetic development of human entities in all of its instances of integrity, unity, but also by those of delimitation, difference and uniqueness.
Many philosophical and/or current anthropological approaches and authors like: Edgar Morin, Raimon Panikkar, Raul Fornet-Betancourt, Jacques Demorgon etc. insist, in their own way, on the culturality revision, on the dia-logos of cultures with the intention of (re)finding a (judicious) dialectic of phenomenal triad: man-culturecivilization in order to show a polytrophic complementarity of the dynamic real-rational-relational interface based on three main elements: space-time-society. But in a globalizing world, the dualistic paradigm of the fragmentary, reductionism and disjunctive opposition is outdated and should be substituted by a complex, open and connective paradigm. Further to the above mentioned ideas (and authors), were) discover the visionary philosophy of Stéphane Lupasco, who, in our view, has anticipated the current projects, outlining before a trialectic nanography of human nature and its (inter) cultural condition, finding themselves, in one way or another, in recent approaches to the identification of a new modus vivendi and a better world.
Keywords: human condition, epigenetic development, integrity, unity, delimitation, difference, uniqueness, the phenomenal triad man-culture-civilization, dynamic realrational-relational interface, polytrophic complementarity, the paradigm of (non) contradiction, complex paradigm, trialectic nanographie.

MEDIA AS A MEDIATOR OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN THE AGE OF GLOBALIZATION

Ludmila LAZĂR    << Back to contents

Abstract: The media exert a great influence, not only on what we believe, but equally on the way we act, so social responsibility in this area is extremely high. Elucidating the intercultural issues represents a challenge for actual media. On one hand, existing ethical norms, increasing ethical requirements in journalism, on the other hand the necessity of marketing media products creates situations where media hardly deal with its role of mediator in intercultural communication. Starting from the specificities of intercultural communication in the Republic of Moldova, we tried to identify the modalities of media coverage of this phenomenon in both successful experiences and existing deficiencies in order to elucidate its role in optimizing communicational processes in the society.
Keywords: intercultural communication, mass media, media ethics, conflict mediation.

METAMORPHOSES OF THE EAST EUROPEAN TELEVISION FILM

Alexandru BOHANŢOV    << Back to contents

Abstract: This study highlights the formation and evolution of television film in the former Soviet media space. Some boundaries are set from a historical point of view between the film that appeared during the commercial regime of competition and when there was only one “manager” of the televisual system. This study tries to give an answer to the question: “Why have film series become, in time, a true media phenomenon?”. Given the presented thematic axes and the arguments, the author believes that the television film always moved between two limits: art as a symbolic good and commercial interest, where marketing strategies are necessary.
Keywords: television film, feature film, TV series, TV program grid, serialization, art, audiovisual marketing.

POLITICAL COMMENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIETY DEMOCRATIZATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

Victoria BULICANU    << Back to contents

Abstract: The multiple approaches to the role of the press in a democratic society, generated by political specialists, sociologists, journalists and common information consumers, managed to induce a certain amount of confusion in society, due, not only to the variety of discussions on the same issues through the media. Whether it is a TV show, radio program or newspaper article, they are no longer understood only as sources of information and communication. Most of the times, there is added an entertainment element based on the relationship between “characters” involved, on certain rituals, conventions, values and types of behavior. Political comments, often conducted by political specialists, politicians and journalists in recent years, tend to resort to the same spectacular media presentation, accompanied by drama, tension, and irony or ridicule on any political event, more than any other information presented.
Keywords: political comments, public opinion, political analyst, communication technologies, mass-media, infotainment.

Communication in politics has emerged as a subject in Russian linguistics with the fall of the Soviet system. This paper presents some aspects of the political metaphor in the Russian political discourse of the late 1990s grouped according to their four sources: “human”, “social”, “nature” and “artefacts”. This brings forth a composite retrospective image of Russia which was designed to rekindle the interest of students of Russia(n) in their subject.

DEVELOPING THE INTERCULTURAL DIMENSION IN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Maria Lorena IRIMIA    << Back to contents

Abstract: The ‘Intercultural Dimension’ is nowdays part of the language teaching. Its aims are to give learners intercultural competence and linguistic competence, to prepare them for interaction with people of other cultures, to enable them to understand people from other cultures as individuals with other distinctive perspectives, values and behaviours, and to help them to see that such interaction is an enriching experience. The components of intercultural competence are knowledge, skills and attitudes, complemented by the values one holds because of one’s belonging to a number of social groups. Understanding the ‘Intercultural Dimension’ requires skills of comparison, of interpreting and relating and critical cultural awareness. Some useful techniques that can be successfully used in the intercultural approach are student exchanges, e-mails, project works and films. Systematic intercultural training is a precondition for educating a new generation of young people who will tolerate, understand, accept, and respect people from different world cultures.

TEACHING ENGLISH LITERATURE COMMUNICATIVELY. ACTIVITIES WITH POEMS, PROSE AND DRAMA

Marius Narcis MANOLIU    << Back to contents

Abstract: The main goal in teaching/learning a foreign language is to use it in the actual communication. That is why the approaches which have appeared in the teaching methodology are not a fashion but a necessity.
Communicative language teaching acknowledges error as being as natural in the process of learning and especially because the stress is on fluency and not on accuracy, the text providing the meaning. As a result the activities should be contextualized and the material should be authentic. Finally the activities must not be boring but highly motivating and why not full of fun.
Some of these activities are pure ‘inventions’, others have been adapted to our purpose. Behind the activities lie a number of generative procedures such as reconstruction, expansion, reduction, replacement, matching, selection, comparison and ordering or ranking. These procedures allow further opportunities for reflection and exploration because we are confident that the possibilities of approaching communicatively a literary text have not been exhausted.
Keywords: teaching, literature, activities, communicative, poems, prose, drama.

LEXICAL PECULIARITIES OF D.H. LAWRENCE’S POETIC PROSE

Oana Ruxandra HRIŢCU    << Back to contents

Abstract:Our interest is focused here on D.H. Lawrence’s conception and use of the lexical device of repetition. We have in view a selection of recurrent words and phrases that constitute most typical examples of this type of device in his masterpieces: The Rainbow, Women in Love and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. Certain recurrent lexical structures, which we have identified and classified as binary, ternary, mixed and multiple, build up into equivalent types of repetition. The twofold purpose of our linguistic investigation is to highlight on Lawrence’s peculiar use and variation of lexical elements and to prove to what extent these changes or ‘deviations’ from the norm constitute daring innovations. Our stylistic analysis refers to the exquisite poetic effects that the writer achieves through ingenious and intricate use of repetition.
