THE SEMIOTIC ORGANON, ANALYSIS TOOL OF THE POETIC LANGUAGE

Lector PhD. Paul Gorban    << Back to contents

Although there are many models of semiotic
research of the cultural phenomena or of the sign
functions, the contemporary semiotics show that
the semiotic methodology involves three
analytical horizons: a) structural analysis of
levels/the hierarchical relations of the macrosign;
b) the triadic analysis (syntactic, semantic and
pragmatic) and c) the situational analysis or
hexadic of general communication that in the
future we plan to present here.

Rahul GADEKAR1, Saumya PANT2    << Back to contents

This study tries to explore relationships among
knowledge of privacy, enactment of privacy and attitude
toward privacy. Specifically, it investigates how users use
privacy settings and what is their attitude towards privacy
on Facebook. It further attempts to study whether
knowledge of privacy settings and attitude towards
privacy has any influence on users’ privacy behavior on
Facebook. It also looks at gender differences in terms of
privacy behavior. An online survey was administered to
199 college going students. Knowledge was not found to
be an influential factor for enactment of privacy. Attitude
toward privacy shares relationship with the enactment of
privacy. Gender approach reveals differences between
males and females in terms of their concern toward privacy
and enactment of privacy measures.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CAPITALIZING RESEARCH RESULTS BY MEANS OF ACADEMIC SPIN-OFFS

Gabriela BOLDUREANU1    << Back to contents

Universities play a key role in the creation and
transmission of information and knowledge; understanding
of mission requires the knowledge of several aspects
concerning the types of research and the nature of its
results, as well as the various ways of valuing the economic
results thereof.
A current problem of universities in Romania is the
very low capitalization of research results in the economic
environment in the form of innovative products and
services. One solution to this situation may be the creation
and development of academic spin-offs whose key role in
the economic exploitation of the results of scientific
research in Universities was reflected in this paper.
Based on an inductive and deductive approach,
comparative analysis and critical interpretation of
numerous international and international studies we have
investigated the process valuation of the academic research
results and the role of spin-offs in this process.
Keywords: spin-off, researchers, scientific research,
entrepreneurship.

THE FACEBOOK NETWORK AND THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF MODERN AGE

Andreea Anisoara BONDAR1    << Back to contents

Within the framework of this article I intend to analyse the on-line socialising through the facebook network that has become requisite to the majority of knowledgeable subjects, viral, too, a fact which is going to be demonstrated through a longitudinal and statistic review of data at national and international level. The trend in our life path involves a highly technological load due to the fact that the interest in the social participation and reading, it has strongly fallen among the youngsters, who are at the beginning of their careers, thus substituting what it has once meant, ”the man is in the centre of the Universe” with “technology”. A development of our thinking, an extension of our brain , which lead us to a profound analysis of everything that suurounds us through self-powered information and control of all our acts in society. The time which is used on-line could be beneficial for research, analysis, studying, on-line books, payments, shopping but, at the same time, is reduced the moment when we are visually satisfied by images, photos, or auditorily, by short films displayed by users testing thus the implication which might bring benefits or counterbenefits. It should be taken into account as an extremely intense premise that we should not overlook in the on-line culture, the presence of the ethics, otherwise, we become non-human beings and the addiction leads you to other addictions. Too much consumption of technology, creates our addiction, thus, not being able to access “something”, we become impatient and stressed leading to a restlessness of our psychical life. Key words: network, information, knowledge, ethics, technological, on-line platforms

MIHAI EMINESCU’S GENIUS IN LITERARY CRITICISM

Ludmila BRANIŞTE1    << Back to contents

The work of a writer, representative of the culture of a nation, is always likely to prompt quite a few varied analytic and interpretative studies since his artistic writings “say” something essential and inexhaustible. Mihai Eminescu’s genius proved to be an inexhaustible ferment of questioning and reflection. He is surrounded by a large number of points of view, including the distinctive and integrative-generalizing approaches as well as unilateral, schematic and declarative rather than truly demonstrative ones. After a brief history of numerous efforts to define the notion of genius (from the Antiquity until the modern times), limiting it to the field of literary theory and critics, this study discusses the critical assessment by T. Maiorescu, C. Dobrogeanu-Gherea, C. Topovici, Edgar Papu, T. Vianu and George Munteanu. A special attention is fairly given to the ample critical summary by G. Călinescu (Works by Mihai Eminescu, vol. I, II), the highest level of assessment as far as the interpretative and argumentative structure is concerned; it manages to penetrate into the depths of the unique aesthetic identity seen as a confession of the spiritual and artistic vocation of the Romanian people. Keywords: genius, identity, critic formula, bohemian spirit, rusticity, analytic substantiality, interpretation.

AN APPROACH TO DISCOURSE CLASSIFICATION

Narcis MANOLIU1    << Back to contents

The main goal in teaching/learning a language is to use it in actual communication. That is why the new approaches which have recently appeared in the teaching methodology are not a fashion but a necessity. The change of outlook in the teaching/learning process must be seen in the new relationships between teacher and student, student and student and student and material. Each student has his/her own experience which he/she wants to share with the others. Hence the necessity to bring in class materials which the students might relate their experiences to and which can trigger genuine communication. The primary function of a language being effective communication it means that the students must interact in class in the solving of different tasks they are assigned. In this context the educational discourse should be reconsidered in the knowledge transfer, the student being placed at the core of the construction and reconstruction of meaning in class interaction. Keywords: discourse, educational, interaction, locutor, knowledge, communication.

THE EDUCATIONAL IMPACT OF THE RETELLISATION ON TEXTUAL COMMUNICATION

Adrian GHICOV1    << Back to contents

From the apprehension perspective, text interpretation implies didactic activities practiced on the web of textual structures, which the student-reader can open through various fictional worlds. But the important part is the methodology on how to bring the reader closer to the text’s “voices”, to sensitize him through interesting techniques of interpreting text elements, such as to give him the assurance of a competent reader, capable to make the de-construction and the re-assembly of the main text elements in regard to incorporating its global message. In the constructivist learning paradigm, the principle of retellisation, which is methodologically applied on the text, becomes the essential factor that helps the student understand the reality. The educational value of the retellisation becomes palpable when the student is assisted in looking in text for a certain pattern, which will shape his existence and internalize the values promoted by a certain text through understanding, interpreting and explicating its message. The text speaks from its own preconceptions and questions. We, the people, do the same thing. Keywords: textual education, textual retellisation, text for text, text for other texts, text for other academic disciplines, text for adult life.

VIEWS OF WOMEN IN 18TH CENTURY BRITISH LITERATURE: RICHARDSON VS. FIELDING

Adrian BRUNELLO¹, Florina-Elena BORŞAN²    << Back to contents

The eighteenth-century British literature described middle-class life and debated what would later be called bourgeois morality. Its role was somewhat connected to the greater education of the ordinary woman. As soon as Richardson wrote Pamela the novel became major intellectual nourishment. In this period, females were able to express their cultural power by means of theatre and novel. Issues of gender were widely debated in the eighteenthcentury English society. The period witnessed an upsurge of argument about women’s roles. The purpose of this article is to compare and contrast two of the most important works written in this period: Fielding’s “An Apology for the Life of Mrs. Shamela Andrews” and Richardson’s epistolary novel “Pamela: or, Virtue Rewarded”, focusing mainly on the views of the two feminine protagonists. COMMUNICATION WITH PEDIATRIC PATIENTS: MORE THAN A MEDICAL ACT

Smaranda DIACONESCU 1,2, Ştefana Maria MOISA1,2    << Back to contents

Pediatricians face unique challenges when trying to communicate with children and family members. Effective communication is more crucial and more complicated than it is with adults, leading to unique situations that necessitate increased abilities. A pediatrician should adapt communication skills to a continuously changing interlocutor. Among children with special communication needs are teenagers, children from intensive care units (preoperative and post-surgery phase), oncology patients, children with hear loss, mental disabilities and, due to global migration and refugees crisis, children whose primary language is different from the physician’s language. When talking to a child and his family, a doctor must follow four Es – engagement, empathy, enlistment and education; other factors influencing child’s and family’s perception of the message are the age, physical appearance, experience, “know-how” and vocation. According to these trends, an improvement in communication with pediatric patients should be a continuous concern in Romanian children’s hospitals. Key words: Children, Communication, Pediatrician
