ANOTHER STUDY FROM IASI DEDICATED TO THE WORK OF SOLOMON MARCUS IN MEMORIAM. 10 YEARS OF MARCUSIAN IMMORTALITY

Anastasia DUMITRU    << Back to contents

In 2026 it will be ten years since the departure to heaven
of the scientist Solomon Marcus, but the people of Iasi do
not forget him, dedicate studies to him and create places
conducive to documentation, research and inter and
transdisciplinary dialogues, approaches that are under the
Marcursian sign. Last year the Romanian academician was
celebrated by UNESCO, 2025 being the Year of Solomon
Marcus, as a recognition of the value of creation and
visionary of the man who wrote over 45 books and 400
scientific articles. On this occasion, at the International
Congress Preparing the Future by Promoting Excellence, the
XXXV edition, organized by the “Apollonia” University of
Iasi and held between February 27 and March 1, 2025, a
massive volume of exceptional practices in research and
education was launched, dedicated to the memory of
academician Solomon Marcus. The monograph coordinated
and edited at the Cartea Românească Publishing House by
Vasile Burlui and Mina-Maria Rusu is entitled Marcus 100.
Dialogues for the Future, being a document-volume, of
academic format, totalling over 550 pages with evocations
and thoughts of the scientist with openings to several
sciences, apparently different, of the mentor concerned
with his disciples, of a lover of research, but also of the
dialogue with his peers. Researchers from Iaşi, including
Cassian Maria Spiridon, are increasingly concerned with
approaching new themes, with transdisciplinary openings
that start from Marcurs’ complexity.
Keywords: Solomon Marcus, Cassian Maria Spiridon,

SERIAL PUBLICATIONS EDITED BY ROMANIAN LIBRARIES – A PARTICULAR PERSPECTIVE ON NATIONAL LIBRARY SCIENCE

Elena TÎRZIMAN    << Back to contents

We intend to point out in this article, the essential
aspects regarding the serial publications in the field of
Library and Information Sciences (LIS) in the Romanian
space published for a period of more than a century; to
make a series of interpretations, starting from quantitative
data, regarding the duration of publication, periodicity,
territorial distribution, publication medium as well as
other characteristics that would allow a general vision on
the evolution of the library science field in Romania from
an editorial perspective. Relevant examples, such as the
Library Journal, the Romanian Journal of Library and
Information Science (RRBSI), journals edited by university
and public libraries, reflect the important role of serial
publications in strengthening professional identity and
disseminating knowledge.

POLYMORPHISM AND THE POLYVALENCE OF LITERATURE DURING A PERIOD OF GLOBALIZATION. DIVERSITY, INTERCONNECTIONS AND PRAXIOLOGICAL PROJECTIONS

Dragoş VICOL    << Back to contents

The awakening of the national consciousness at the
end of the 1990s puts its deep seal on the beginning of an
unprecedented antagonism in the space between the Prut
and the Dniester, encompassing not only the social
sphere, but strongly influencing even the contemporary
literary process. What are the causes that have degenerated
into such open confrontations, especially between older
and younger writers, between the generations of the pre-
revolutionary period and the one of recent times? What
happened to those who raised the broad masses to the
anti-colonial struggle with their word? Why do they find
themselves today on different sides of the barricade and
why are they fighting a fierce battle against each other?
Why are both sides devoured by sickly ambitions and
fetid discords that are difficult to understand? Is this
behavioral change triggered by the fact that the revolution
radically changed the meaning of life in these lands,
imposing new expression forms regarding the existence
and contradictions of the present-day individual? We
therefore aim to provide some pertinent answers to these
pressing questions (some people regard them as being
rhetorical and, therefore, without dialectical answers and
finalities through the present research).
Keywords: literary paradigm, (post)modernism, mimesis,
poetics, contrastive vein, fatalism, anguish, artistic
reconsiderations, ethical-aesthetic integration, programmatic

E-COMMERCE IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL GLOBALIZATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Virgil-Constantin FĂTU, Ionuţ HRUBARU    << Back to contents

E-commerce has evolved beyond its traditional role as
an alternative sales channel, emerging as a complex
economic, technological, and social infrastructure that
integrates producers, digital platforms, consumers,
logistics networks, and payment systems on a global scale.
Within the broader context of digital globalization,
e-commerce is no longer characterized merely by the
digitalization of commercial transactions but by the
structural reconfiguration of markets around data-driven
processes, algorithmic decision-making, digital interfaces,
and transnational platform ecosystems. This transformation
has been further accelerated by the widespread adoption
of artificial intelligence (AI), which increasingly underpins
critical business functions, including product discovery,
personalized recommendations, dynamic pricing, customer
relationship management, inventory optimization, risk
assessment, and regulatory compliance. As a result, AI has
become a strategic enabler of operational efficiency,
customer value creation, and competitive advantage in the
digital marketplace. The present article aims to demonstrate
that competitiveness in contemporary e-commerce is no
longer determined solely by price, product diversity, or
global market access. Rather, it increasingly depends on
organizations’ ability to integrate and coordinate three
strategic dimensions: the practical implementation of
artificial intelligence, cross-border operational resilience,
and responsible data governance.
Keywords: E-commerce, digital globalization, artificial
intelligence.

BUCOVINIAN MEMOIR LITERATURE: LECA MORARIU IN THE LIGHT OF TIME

Luminiţa CĂŞUNEANU    << Back to contents

This study reintroduces an emblematic figure of
Bukovinian memoir literature to contemporary readers, a
figure capable of reshaping the historical and cultural
memory, opening new paths for future intellectual
endeavours. We began by acknowledging how Leca
Morariu, through his journals, gave life to the world in
which his personality was shaped. From historically
grounded information to religious insight, all narrative
threads are woven into an intuitive understanding of his
era — while also anticipating the future. His journals can
be read equally by literary scholars and by ordinary readers
eager to learn about the life and challenges of a remarkable
man. Through his confessions, Leca Morariu becomes a
reflective lens through which the external world is
perceived, filtered through the ideals and convictions by
which he lived. The events he recounts help to re-create
the atmosphere of a time that allows us to better understand
not only his personality, but also the historical consciousness
of Bukovinians — a time within time, fused with memory
and history.
Keywords: Leca Morariu, history, mémoire, journal,

THE SKY AS LANGUAGE: CORRESPONDENCES BETWEEN LITERARY DISCOURSE AND ICONOGRAPHY

Diana POPA    << Back to contents

The sky does not function as a descriptive element, but
as a symbolic theological language. Literary discourse
takes up iconographic principles such as ontological
verticality and uncreated light. There is a close connection
between reading the text and reading the image. Thus, we
understand that reading an image is synonymous with
projecting an entire literary universe onto it. Ekphrasis
helps the reader to penetrate the mysteries of icons. The
essay book dedicated to the monasteries of Oltenia includes
the images of the paintings, completed by explanations
that give them life. The purpose of ekphrasis is to create in
words a description so well done that it makes the reader
easily imagine the thing described, even in a situation
where this thing does not exist in reality. Therefore,
ekphrasis aims to achieve verisimilitude. The mural
painting of the Oltenia monasteries became the basic
material of the ekphrasis in Valeriu Anania’s stories. The
sky functions as an intermediary language between the
individual and transcendence, between sensory experience
and spiritual revelation, to which we can apply an
ekphrastic reading. The look towards the sky is not a
romantic one, of escape, but an ascetic one, of interiorization.
The sky does not promise an escape from the world, but a
discipline of the look, a reordering of being. Thus, it
becomes the language of divine law, not of reverie.
Keywords: sky, iconography, language, revelation,
ekphrasis.

CATHERINE FLETCHER AND THE NEW PERSPECTIVE ON THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE OR ABOUT THE “BOOK OF THE YEAR”

Anastasia DUMITRU    << Back to contents

In 2024, the book Beauty and the Terror: The Italian
Renaissance and the Rise of the West, written by Catherine
Fletcher was published by Litera Publishing House. The
book was translated from English by Corina Dobrotă. It
brings to light not only the beautiful and amazing
achievements of this era, but also its dark side, marked by
crimes and wars. The reader will understand what lies
behind the Mona Lisa’s smile, the fact that she was married
to a slave trader, that “many of the best-known artists and
thinkers of the Renaissance asserted themselves not only
in the context of the much-praised “artistic renaissance” of
the fifteenth century, but also in the midst of the death and
destruction of the sixteenth century,” as the Guardian said
of this “full of force” volume. (fourth cover of the book).
Specialised in the history of the Renaissance and in modern
European history, professor at Manchester Metropolitan
University, Catherine Fletcher, reveals, as stated in the
title, the beauty and the terror of the Renaissance. We all
know the luxuriance and variety of beauty: the art, the
wealth, the colour, the opulence of the great constructions,
but few know about the terrible deaths, the political and
military strategies of the Renaissance, events that created
the premises for the formation of modern Europe. Arguing
the role of Italian Renaissance culture, Catherine Fletcher
recalls the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites with real
value and cultural significance for humanity. The entrance
to the historic centre of Florence, symbol of the Renaissance,
inscribed in 1982, contains many masterpieces. In 2019,
Italy held the world record for registrations in the World
Heritage list.

CONSPIRACY THEORIES COMMUNICATION: A SOCIAL CONFLICT

Anca Raluca PURCARU    << Back to contents

In this paper, we analyse the main Conspiracy theories
in Romania (the government wants to replace the
population with migrants, vaccines cause autism, vaccines
contain chips, the climate change is a lie, Covid vaccine
causes infarct, there was no Holocaust, the George Soros
conspiracy, the Earth is plat, people never reached the
Moon, the elections were a fraud, the president is Jew,
Vidraru Lake was emptied because it had Dacian gold
beneath, the EU wants to empty and demolish accumulation
lakes and so on). The conspiracy theories thrive in this
country, mainly because the trust in state institutions is the
lowest from all UE countries, according to TRUEDEM
(2025). Various experts in disinformation speak about a
campaign of trust destabilization in the current government.
The point of the paper is that one cannot argue with
conspiracy theorists, even if we talk about scientific
theories. The physicist Cristian Presură states for Europa
Liberă in the project SmartJob that any pseudoscience
theory will have a conspiracy explanation for the things
they cannot scientifically argue. Moreover, social conspiracy
theories are even harder to argue with, as it is shown in
this paper. The main causes of conspiracy theories (political
manipulation, pseudoscience, human evilness, the desire
for social validation, the social proof behaviour), as well
as various plans to counteract them are also discussed here.

POSTMODERNIST MANTRA: WELLBEING FOR ALL CITIZENS. HOW FRIENDLY IS MY NEIGHBORHOOD TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES?

Octavian Harald TENEA, Atena GASPAR DE ALMEIDA SANTOS    << Back to contents

People with disabilities have the right, as all other
people, to a habitual and healthy life. They belong to the
community and they are entitled to a meaningful
existence. But are these assertions accurate? How often
can we detect uneven surfaces, correct dimensions or
grades of the sidewalks or the accurate positions of the
ramps? The use of access dedicated to the people with
disabilities (and not only for them) is a daily exercise
taken for granted by all the inhabitants of an area. A
thorough analysis and a systematic identification of the
challenges that the people with disabilities are facing on
a daily basis was imposed after a period of over one year
of observation completed by a vast number of photos
taken for so many circumstances identified as barriers
for all citizens. The community space taken into
consideration is a neighbourhood from Iaşi and the
awareness of the authors derived from their interest for
the people of third and fourth age, as well as disabled
people, with whom they interact within the Association
AFECT from the city mentioned above. Taken into
account the systematic aging process, by exposing the
perceptions and attitudes of people with disabilities in
their daily confrontation within the public spaces we
tried to clarify the dilemmas with regards to the limited
or/and inadequate access and, by extension, the key
challenges to their wellbeing.
Keywords: access, disability, inclusiveness, public spaces,
urban planning, wellbeing.

POST-TRUTH IN MILITARY VERSION? A NEW NAME FOR AN OLD PRACTICE

Georgel RUSU    << Back to contents

In armed confrontations, post-truth proves to represent
an adoption and modelling platform for the techniques
and technologies based mainly on communication, aimed
at deceiving the opponent and at diminishing / cancelling
the kinetic effort dedicated to achieving various goals. The
new approaches refer to the “mental capturing” of the
employers and their “voluntary” engagement in the
performance of tasks in a manner similar to that in judo
where the opponent’s energy is used in order to prolong
one’s own effort. The interpenetrations with other non-
kinetic/kinetic techniques and technologies are exploited.
They precede the actual confrontation, constituting a
favourable fire preparation. The new typology of the “Fifth
Column” built on emotions and feelings induced through
communication makes us see the dual use of social
networks that states are not prepared to deal with. We are
forced to observe more than an enrichment of the panoply
of propaganda and the arsenal of weapons dedicated to
disinformation, witnessing the “establishment” of a new
type of war – the cognitive one, a place where the post-
truth platform operates by sliding controlled information.
The post-truth platform also offers challenges to war or
major social changes.
Keywords: military confrontation, post-truth, social
networks, dual usage, induced emotions, cognitive war.

CLICKBAIT STRATEGIES IN DIGITAL PRESS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF EDITORIAL PRACTICES

Roxana COSTAŞ, Nicu GAVRILUŢĂ    << Back to contents

The use of clickbait in online journalism is determined,
exclusively, by the economic pressures that, in recent
years, have disrupted the traditional model of how the
press operates. As online publications increasingly depend
on revenues generated through traffic-based advertising,
user attention has become a valuable and limited,
economically quantifiable resource. This “monetized
attention” leads some media organizations to compete
aggressively for visibility, and, as a consequence, the
clickbait model is increasingly used. Titles meant to
stimulate emotion, fear, curiosity are used widely and with
exaggeration. The present research investigates the
presence and frequency of clickbait titles in the Romanian
online press, focusing on two popular media sources: EVZ.
ro and Viva.ro. The aim of the study is to highlight, on the
one hand, the editorial strategies used to attract the public’s
attention through headlines, and on the other hand, to
compare the editorial behaviour between a general news
site and one based on entertainment. The methodology
applied was mixed: an automatic analysis, carried out
through a Python script that uses rules based on keywords
and linguistic formulas typical of clickbait; and a manual
analysis, in which the headlines were qualitatively
evaluated according to criteria such as emotional language,
unrealistic promises, rhetorical questions or vague
expressions. The results indicate a higher prevalence of
clickbait headlines in the content of a tabloid site, but also
the tendency of generalist publications to use this method
to capture the user’s attention. The study contributes to
understanding how the digital environment influences
journalistic style, in the context of the attention economy.
Keywords: clickbait, online, press, website, disinformation,
fake-news.

MARCUSIAN POETICS – A TRANSDISCIPLINARY HERMENEUTIC EXERCISE

Mina-Maria RUSU    << Back to contents

The linguistic competence is associated with the poetic
one, in a complementarity that contributes significantly to
the cultural competence. They provide deep knowledge,
broadening the cognitive universe of the reader. The
writing process is associated with that of decoding the
poetic text, based on mathematical formulas and putting
the art of the word and the science of mathematics on the
same level. Solomon Marcus opened the perspective of a
transdisciplinary approach to the knowledge of reality
and, in symmetry, of poetic knowledge, theoretically
explaining and applying the principles of mathematical
poetics.
Keywords: mathematical poetics, denotative, connotative,
generative grammars, linguistic competence, poetic competence,
decoding, transdisciplinary hermeneutics.
